  • Based in Beijing and with offices in Los Angeles and New York City, MAD Architects are leading the way for a new generation of Chinese firms working globally on prestigious cultural projects. They have developed a design process that can be highly responsive to a site and draws on the skills of a multidisciplinary team from the earliest point possible. The story of the opera house they have created for the Chinese city of Harbin is a perfect illustration of this, as Guest-Editor Richard Garber explains.
