    El convento de San Luis el real, de La Zubia, fue fundado en 1500 por Isabel la Católica. Según la leyenda, durante la guerra de Granada la reina tuvo que refugiarse en un bosque de laurel donde estuvo rezando. El análisis de los textos que narran esta batalla permite conocer mejor la realidad. Los frailes usaron la leyenda para favorecer el patronazgo real. Los viajeros románticos del XIX la convirtieron en argumento literario. Hoy, el laurel de la reina, se ha convertido en el símbolo de todo el pueblo.

    In 1500 the Queen Isabel of Castilla established the San Luis el Real Convent in La Zubia (Granada). As the legend tells, during the Kingdom of Granada War, the Queen Isabel de Castilla sheltered herself in an old Bay Leaf forest where she prayed devoutly. A closer analysis to the texts describing the battle show us the real things better. At that time the legend was used by monks to ask for royal patronage and the Romantic writers in the 19th century turned into a plot. Nowadays, the Queen’s Bay Leaf tree became a distinguishing mark for the village.
