    Este artículo presenta un panorama de las distintas maneras en que, a finales del siglo XIX, los argentinos de origen africano reflejaron la imagen que tenían de sí mismos a través de sus periódicos. En el análisis, se discute cómo esta comunidad reproduce parcialmente ideales hegemónicos transmitidos socioculturalmente por la élite blanca, y en esta medida recrea modelos estéticos híbridos que valoran la identidad negra y la construcción de la ciudadanía en reciprocidad con los estándares europeizantes difundidos en el imaginario popular

    This article presents an overview of the ways in which, in the late nineteenth century, Argentines of African origin reflect the image they had of themselves through their newspapers. In the analysis, we discuss how this community partially reproduced hegemonic sociocultural ideals transmitted by the white elite, and to this extent recreates hybrid aesthetic models that value the black identity and the construction of citizenship in reciprocity with Europeans standards spread in the popular imagination.
