    El artículo estudia las diferencias sobre la responsabilidad de los intelectuales entre dos promociones mexicanas, apenas separadas por unos años, que coinciden entre 1915 y 1923.

    Los “Siete Sabios” impulsados por el ideario de Antonio Caso que rápidamente asumen la acción como directriz preferente, y otra que prefigura a los futuros Contemporáneos, que relegan la actuación inmediata en favor de la crítica y el libre examen. Dos promociones que irrumpen bajo la tutela de los restos del Ateneo de la Juventud aunque con dos orientaciones distintas y contradictorioas: los “sabios” ocupados en la reconstrucción de las instituciones en la inmediata posrevolución, relegando el trabajo intelectual en benefico de la tarea por hacer, próximos a Antonio Caso y José Vasconcelos; los futuros Contemporáneos, entonces integrantes del Nuevo Ateneo de la Juventud, reacios a implicarse en el quehacer pragmático e inmediato, concentrados en la búsqueda de un espacio intelectual propio, más acorde con la enseñanaza de Pedro Henríquez Ureña y Alfonso Reyes.

    The article studies the differences on the responsibility of intellectuals among two promotions Mexican, only separated by a few years, matching between 1915 and 1923.
