    Este artículo analiza la dinámica expansionista de los EE. UU. durante el siglo XIX, primero hacia el oeste, alejándose de lo que Frederick Jackson Turner denominaba la «frontera» con Europa1, hasta llegar al océano Pacífico y posteriormente a México, América Central y el Caribe, un proceso expansionista que ha sido muy vital en la historia de los EE. UU. y que culminó con una presencia destacada que ha perdurado en el tiempo, si bien en la última etapa la relación bilateral entre las dos Américas se ha tornado más igualitaria, con lo que la asimetría entre ambas se ha reducido

    The article analyzes the dynamics of the US expansionism along the Nineteenth Century, first to the West getting away from what Frederick Jackson Turner called the border with Europe, then to the Pacific Ocean as well as to Mexico, Central America and the Caribbean. This expansionist process, vital in the history of the US, culminated with a strong presence in the area that has endured over time, although in the last stage the bilateral relationship has become more equal so that the asymmetry between both Americas has decreased
