Resumen de Reflections on the Neuroscience of Decision Making

Oshin Vartanian, D R Mandel

  • As histories go, it is difficult to pinpoint with precision the starting point for the field of neuroscience of decision making. Nevertheless, there is little doubt that modern clinical neurology, in particular the work of Antoine Bechara, Antonio Damasio, and colleagues in the early 1990s, played a pivotal role in establishing this field by linking damage to specific parts of the prefrontal cortex to specific and dissociable deficits in decision making. This paved the way for the emergence of a new subfield within cognitive neuroscience focused on the neural bases of decision making.
