The primacy of European Union Law and the case law of the Court of Justice where the Court affirrned the said principle (which is a general theme in the frarnework of EU Law institutional aspects) provide an opportunity to express some considerations with regard to: a) the relationship between the Court ofJustice and national judges; b) the protection of fundanmental rightsl, in particular in those Mernber States that joined the European Union more recently; c) the Area of freedom, security and justice. In this latter context, immigration and asylum the most recent developments related therto (from a legal and political point of view), and the reasons for the "Schengen system and the «'Dublin system crisis will also be axamined.
