En un periodo histórico de grandes incertidumbres y tensiones geopolíticas, Latinoamérica, comparativamente más estable y previsible, podría ir ganando importancia en la geopolítica global de la energía. Los progresos sociales y económicos producidos durante el «superciclo» latinoamericano del boom de las materias primas han reforzado a sus sociedades para afrontar el futuro. Por otra parte, la experiencia de la profunda crisis inducida por el desplome del precio del petróleo está obligando a impulsar reformas largamente necesitadas.
Una región tan generosamente regalada por la naturaleza no pude dejar de ofrecer grandes expectativas. El tiempo tendrá la respuesta. Conviene prestarle atención.

In a historical period of great uncertainties and geopolitical tensions Latin America, comparatively more stable and predictable, could gain importance in global energy geopolitics. The social and economic developments produced during the Latin American commodities super-cycle have strengthened their societies to face the future. On the other hand, the experience of the deep crisis induced by the collapse of oil price is obliging to push for long-needed reforms. A region so generously gifted by nature offers great expectations. Time will have the answer. It is advisable to pay attention.
