    La notion de marché politique semble de plus en plus en vogue chez les politistes français. Son usage, le plus souvent a-critique, justifie que l'on s'attache à analyser les tenants et aboutissants d'une théorie prétendant dériver les comportements et règles politiques de l'économie de marché. Traiter l'espace politique à l'instar de marché relève d'une construction par analogie. Il incombe, en premier lieu, d'en expliciter postulats et hypothèses. En second lieu, le paradigme néo-libéral immanent au marché politique conduit les adeptes du Choix public à déconstruire les fondements de l'Etat-providence. En conclusion, il apparaît une incompatibilité logique entre le postulat d'égoïsme et l'existence même des politiques publiques, par nature redistributrices ou régulatrices.

    The theory of political markets And the rationality of public policies The concept of political market seems increasingly fashionable among French political scientists. Its use — often a-critical — justifies a doser analysis of the varions éléments of a theory which purports to derive behavior and political rules from the model of the market economy. Treating political space as a market implies an analogical construction. It is necessary, in the first place, to explicate its postulates and hypotheses. In the second place, the neo-liberal paradigm inherent to the political market leads Public Choice theorists to deconstruct the foundations of the Welfare-State. In conclusion, there appears to be a logical incompatibility between the postulate of egoism and the very existence of public policies inherently redistributive or regulatory.
