  • Resumen
    • During the first centuries of our era, following the opening of the Silk Road, Central Asia had an increasingly large cultural impact on China. The immi-gration of merchants, artists, monks, and mercenaries from the »Westem Lands« (Xiyu ??) helped bring about a renewal of traditional Chinese festivals. Starting in the second century BC, professionalism in combat sports and other games of strength increased significantly, and these sports found adherents among the general populace and were institutionalized by the Wei dynasty emperors. Physical fitness and combat sports skills developed by wandering warriors, outlaws, monks, and traveling performers became widely popular in medieval China
