      Durante la Transición los periodistas españoles tuvieron la oportunidad de iniciar un proceso de profesionalización que les condujo hacia mayores niveles de autonomía frente al poder político. Al lado tenían a una clase política que también necesitaba legitimarse en el nuevo sistema democrático, y para ello requería la colaboración de los medios de comunicación. El objetivo principal de este artículo es analizar cómo se reflejó en los diarios El País y Abc la vida política durante la Transición. Para ello se han considerado tres variables: a) los tipos de acontecimientos que desencadenan la información política, b) los escenarios de la acción política y c) los tipos de actores protagonistas de las noticias. En total se han analizado 975 unidades de análisis, publicadas en ambos periódicos entre los años 1980 y 1985.Palabras clave: España, periodismo político, Transición, mediatización, análisis de contenido.

      During the Transition, Spanish journalists had the opportunity to start up a process of professionalization that led them to higher levels of independence from political power. At the same time, the country’s political class also needed to legitimize itself in the new democratic system and to do so it required the cooperation of the media. The main objective of this paper is to analyze how El País and Abc reflected political life during the Transition. To this end, three variables have been considered: a) the types of events that gave rise to political news, b) the political action scenarios, and c) the type of actors who were the protagonists of the news. A total of 975 analysis units published in both newspapers between 1980 and 1985 have been studied.Keywords: Spain, political journalism, Spanish Transition, mediatization, content analysis.
