A short historical survey of the construction of digital computers in Holland will be given. Two schools of slightly different ideas have cristallized out: one at the Mathematical Centre, Amsterdam, the other at the Dr. Neher Laboratory of the Dutch Postal & Telecommunications Services (PTT), The Hague. The outlines of the most important ideas and developments and their differences will be discussed. Especially details of the logical design of some Dutch computers will be treated
