  A review of the physiopathology of the hepatic coma is presented. The departing point in the study of the hepatic metabolic functions especially the ones refering to the metabolism of the amonia, increased and decreased factors are studied an they are related to the symptorns of the process.

  Finally a review of the factors predisposing to the hepatic coma is done. The Knowledge of the prophylaxis and therapy of this situation is important because the presence of cellular regeneration in these patients might be very hopefull.

  Horn efectua una revisió de la fisiopatologia del coma hepàtic. El punt de partida és l'estudi de les funcions metabòliques del fetge, especialment allò referent al metabolisme de l'amoni. S'estudien els factors que són augmentats i els que són disminuïts, relacionant-los amb les característiques del procés. Finalment horn repassa els factors que predisposen a l'aparició de l'alteració. Cal destacar la importància de conèixer aquesta entitat, la seva profilaxi i tractament, car l'existència de proliferació cel.lular regenerativa en aquests pacients fa concebre esperances sobre llur recuperació.
