La imagen del genio creativo siempre nos ha fascinado, y por eso elaboramos narrativas sobre él. Algunas científicas, otras menos científicas, o quizás ingenuas. Pero son casi siempre las últimas las que efectivamente se enraízan en la cultura. Los mitos del niño prodigio y su talento innato, así como los del artista loco o inspirado por los dioses, han sido bastante populares a lo largo de la historia. Se trata de teorías implícitas de la creatividad que, naturalmente, han sido objeto de estudio por parte de la academia.
Pero la verdad es que las interrogaciones acerca de este tema parecen haber terminado.
Como si estuviéramos satisfechos con las respuestas, sin considerar que el paradigma mediático ha cambiado. Nos falta comprender mejor estos mitos y leyendas, y su función cultural en el mundo interconectado de hoy. En suma, diagnosticar hermenéuticamente quién es el auténtico portador del virus del talento en la era digital – el individuo común que se encuentra a sí mismo en la realización de sus sueños, dándonos a conocer su extraordinario potencial secreto en cuanto ‘yo productor’.

The image of the creative genius has always fascinated us, and that is why we elaborate narratives about him. Some of them scientific, others less scientific, or even naïve.
Nevertheless, these last ones are precisely those which create roots in our cultures. The child prodigy and his innate talent, the mad artist or the one inspired by the Gods, are some of the most popular myths across history. They are what we call implicit theories on creativity, which of course have been widely studied by academics. But not in the latest years. It seems we stopped crafting questions about this matter.
As if we were fully satisfied with the answers we have been giving, without considering that the media paradigm has changed. We need to better understand these myths and legends, as well as their cultural function in our interconnected world of today. In short, we must hermeneutically identify who is actually carrying the talent virus in digital age: the ordinary individual who discovers himself in the fulfilment of his dreams, showing us his extraordinary secret potential as a ‘productive self’
