    This contribution deals with the word "mHw" from the Hibis temple in the oasis Khargeh, with in the WB has been viewed as a writing for "mcH .w" "crocodiles". This suggestion is followed here and supported by further arguments. The form is interpreted as a defective writing after the loss of "c" by assimilation to "H". The process has been caused by the similarity of the two signs in the Hieratic, and it can be observed in other cases as well. The final part of the article introduces examples for the loss of "c" under general conditions

    Der vorliegende Beitrag wird vom Wort ,,mHw" aus dem Hibistempel der Charga Oase handeln, das im Worterbuch als Schreibung für ,,mcH .w" ,,Krokodile" aufgefasst wird. Der Vorschlag wird hier übernommen und durch zusatzliche Argumente abgesichert. Die Form wird als Defektivschreibung unter Verlust des ,,e" durch Assimilation an ,,H" interpretiert. Der Prozess ist durch die Ähnlichkeit der Zeichen im Hieratischen in Bewegung gebracht worden. Der Vorgang lasst sich auch in anderen Fallen beobachten. Im Schlussteil werden Beispiele für den Ausfall von ,,e" unter allgemeinen Bedingungen zusammengestellt
