Our line of research is focused on the applications of computer algebra in artificial intelligence, transportation engineering, geometry and education. Regarding math education, we believe that connecting the mathematical contents to real world topics is a key issue so that students feel interested in the subject. We present here an application of graph theory to railway networks that can be used in the classroom as illustration of the utility of graph theory in real life: evaluanting the impact of having an unconnected network versus having a connected onde.
