Resumen de La información etimológica de los extranjerismos crudos en la nueva edición del DRAE

En este artículo se realiza una revisión crítica del tratamiento dado en la 23.ª edición del DRAE (2014) a la información etimológica de los extranjerismos crudos, es decir, aquellas voces que, por no atenerse a las normas gráfico-fonológicas del español, se presentan en la obra académica con lemas en cursiva. Se analiza, así, qué sucede con el paréntesis etimológico de 344 lemas, comparándolos, cuando es posible, con la anterior edición del DRAE y con el avance de la 23.ª, en un intento de observar qué criterios se aplican a la etimología de estas voces –además de los que las páginas preliminares del diccionario explicitan–, si se hace coherentemente y hasta qué punto los datos ofrecidos por la Academia son los adecuados.

In this paper I undertake a critical review of the treatment provided in the 23rd edition of the DRAE (2014) of the etymological information about ‘raw foreign words’, i.e. those words which characteristically do not follow the graphic-phonic rules of Spanish, the lemmas of which are shown in italics in the academic dictionary. Therefore, I analyze what happens with the etymological parenthesis in 344 lemmas, comparing them, where possible, with the previous edition of DRAE and the preview of the 23rd edition. My aim is to observe the criteria applied by the RAE in respect of this type of information –in addition to the parameters set out in the preamble to the DRAE 2014–and if a consistent treatment is achieved. Moreover, I assess whether the data that the Real Academia offers are appropriate.
