The socialist party and ecologism from the exclusion of an issue to the attempts at subordination of an intruder Established political parties generally seek to hinder the appearance of new competitive political actors through reaction or cooptation. Over the last 20 years, the use of such strategies against ecologism by the Socialist Party, probably the party most bothered by the ecologist intrusion, has been particularly clear. Its moves of cooptation and reaction seem linked to the scope of the intrusion and to its electoral consequences, envisaged (polls) or real (election results). White attempts at exclusion of the environmental theme are little by little yielding to attempts at eviction of the ecological actor, the various actions continue to coexist and their juxtaposition reveals a lack of strategie coherence.
