Developing models to generate engine noise gives full control and flexibility to the user in the simulation environment for multiple applications including active noise cancellation in automotive engineering. This paper presents a method of developing a mathematical model for playback and synthesis of engine noise that has not been reported so far. AVold-Kalman filter is used to extract the engine orders from the recorded engine noise. In addition to the extracted parameters, engine RPM and load are taken into account for developing the model. Three different engine noises under different conditions are generated and the simulation results are presented. The proposed model allows the user to select the required number of orders, RPM and load to generate different engine noise sounds from a single recording.
