    Cette étude porte sur un témoin anglo-saxon — fourni par la Genèse du ms. Junius XI de la Bodleian Library à Oxford, écrite en idiome vernaculaire — de la tradition exégétique qui lie le motif de la chute des anges à celui de la création de l'homme. Nous nous sommes attachés en premier lieu à donner une lecture détaillée de l'illustration de la page 9 du manuscrit qui présente le retrait de la côte d'Adam et l'animation d'Eve, en présence d'une cohorte de dix anges. Nous avons cherché ensuite à cerner les références du texte, propres à étayer la proposition iconographique de la page 9.

    This study deals with a portion of an old english Genesis that appears in ms. Junius XI (Oxford, Bodleian Library). It aims at putting forward an example of the exegetical tradition that links the fall of the angels to the creation of man. We flrst analyse the illustration of the page 9 of the manuscript, that shows the taking of the rib, Eve's quickening and a ten angels' heavenly host. We then bring to light fragments of the text to buttress up the iconographical proposition of page 9.
