  • Prices have reacted to diminishing demand over the past 12 months, slowly eroding throughout the year. IM Data's FOB, China flake graphite prices, for example, have fallen by an average of 47% since the peaks of 2011.

    The flake graphite industry faces even more challenges going forward with a potential supply squeeze on large flake, higher purities products. The lack of large flake material in excess of 50 mesh with a carbon content between 94-98% has been problematic this year and will continue to be so in 2014.
