  • Resumen
    • "Fracking is risky for local environments, risky for our water supplies and risky for the global climate. People are right to stand up and say'not under my land you don't'," said Greenpeace senior campaigner Anna Jones.

Chancellor Angela Merkel's Christian Democrat Party (CDU) and the Social Democrats (SPD), which are in talks regarding a possible'grand coalition', have agreed to retain a moratorium on fracking for gas if a partnership is formed.

"Europe may never utilise shale gas to the extent the US is currently using shale gas. However, shale gas can prove essential to provide extra supply as Europe's conventional sources dwindle (such as the North Sea), it can also help reduce dependence on expensive LNG imports and imports from Russia," Shale Gas Europe told IM.
