Resumen de China maintains mineral export quotas at 2012 levels

Laura Syrett

  • For rare earths, a 15,500-tonne quota was set for the six months to the end of December. This included 13,821 tonnes light rare earths and 1,679 tonnes heavy rare earths, and brings the full-year total to 31,001 tonnes.

The H2 quota, which consists of 4,752 tonnes antimony and 22,362 tonnes antimony oxide, brings the total 2013 quota to 67,786 tonnes.

According to recent statements by rare earths producers, including Australia's Lynas Corp. and China's Rare Earths Global, prices for rare earths continued to soften during the first half of 2013.
