    En 1990 se formaliza la propuesta de las “Ciudades educadoras” y, ocho años más tarde (1998), las ciudades de Barcelona y Sabadell ponen en marcha unos planes estratégicos para implementar esa propuesta educativa y territorial: habían nacido los Proyectos Educativos de Ciudad (PEC). El objetivo de esa propuesta, que operativiza la filosofía de las ciudades educadoras, era “territorializar” la educación y “educacionalizar” el territorio en un sentido amplio. Pasados 15 años, el artículo propone una análisis de su génesis, su evolución, sus logros, sus dificultades y límites, así como las perspectivas des de las cuales los PEC y otros proyectos que vinculan la educación con el territorio, están trabajando actualmente.

    In 1990, the 1st International Congress of Educating Cities was held. Eight years later (1998), following months of preparatory work, Barcelona and Sabadell began to implement their strategic plans to promote this educational and territorial idea: the City Education Projects (PECs). The aim of these projects, following the philosophy of the educating cities movement, was to ‘territorialise’ education and ‘educationalise’ territory, understood here in the broadest sense. Fifteen years on, this article sets out to analyse the evolution of the PECs (their achievements, limitations, and the problems they have faced), and to explore the new perspectives that currently inform PECs and other projects that seek to link education and territory.
