El texto consiste en un estudio historiográfico sobre la iconografía en el arte y la arquitectura virreinales. El sesgo principal de este estudio será la idea de sincretismo e hibridación cultural entre la espiritualidad prehispánica y la espiritualidad cristiana traída por los españoles. La investigación pretende delinear las relaciones entre las figuras prehispánicas y aquellas producidas por la evangelización en nuestro territorio, resaltando las correspondencias, mezclas y combinaciones de algunos íconos cristianos con aquellos propios de la mitología local andina. Todo esto en un contexto en el que el arte barroco permite ese tipo de complejidad y diversidad.

This article is a historiographical study about iconography in Colonial Art and Architecture. The main bias of this study would be the idea of syncretism and cultural hybridization between Pre-Hispanic and Christian spirituality brought by the Spaniards. The research aims to outline the relationship between the Pre-Hispanic figures and those resulting from our territory evangelization, highlighting correspondences, mixtures and combinations of some Christian icons with those representative of the Andean mythology.
Everything was within a context in which Baroque Art allows such type of complexity and diversity.
