    El pintor català Modest Cuixart (Barcelona, 1925 – Palamós, 2007) és un dels artistes catalans més representatius de la segona meitat del segle XX. Membre cofundador de Dau al Set, el barceloní destacà com un dels creadors surrealistes més importants de la postguerra. Durant els anys cinquanta, inicià la seva etapa informalista atret per les possibilitats de l’experimentació matèrica i retornà posteriorment a la figuració. Cal·ligrafies sinuoses, deformitats biològiques, atmosferes torturadores..., són només alguns dels nombrosos elements que configuren l’univers oníric de l’artista. Tot i la distància temporal, el binomi Bosch-Cuixart representa l’encreuament de dues projeccions còsmiques definides a partir de codis excepcionalment genials i heterodoxos, convergents en la voluntat de crear un art dotat de funcionalitat ètica.

    The Catalan painter Modest Cuixart (Barcelona, 1925 – Palamós, 2007) is one of the most representative artists of the second half of the twentieth century in Catalonia. Being a founding member of the Dau al Set collective, he became one of the most important surrealist painters during the post-war years. In the fifties, he started his informalist period, attracted by the possibilities of experimentation with matter, returning later to figurative methods. Sinuous calligraphy, biological deformities, oppressive atmospheres… these are just some of the numerous elements that define the dream world of the artist. Despite the temporal distance, the duo Bosch-Cuixart represents a crossroads between two cosmic projections defined by exceptionally brilliant and unorthodox codes, joined in the desire to create an art based on ethics.
