Mesoamérica es una área cultural conocida por la resistencia de varios de sus rasgos al paso del tiempo. Uno de ellos mantuvo su existencia en la larga duración : el “depósito ritual”, también llamado “ofrendas”, se define como un ritual figurativo, basado en representaciones materiales y miniaturizadas, generalmente acompañado por el sacrificio de animales o hombres y/o el don de comida; tiene una gran antigüedad y persiste en uso en las poblaciones indígenas contemporáneas. El artículo examina las evidencias de esta práctica ceremonial, así como sus características.

Mesoamerica is a cultural area known by the resistance of several of its features to the passage of time. One of them remained in existence in the long duration: the "ritual deposit", also named offerings, is defined as a figurative ritual, based on material and miniaturized representations, generally accompanied by the sacrifice of animals or men and / or the gift of food ; it has a great antiquity and persists in use in the indigenous contemporary populations. The article examines the evidences of this ceremonial practice, as well as its characteristics.
