Un caso infrecuente de disfunción craneomandibular

    La asociación disfunción temporomandibular-enfermedad de Crohn-ortodoncia debe ser muy infrecuente si tenemos en cuenta la práctica inexistencia de referencias bibliográficas. En este artículo analizamos un caso clínico y discutimos las posibles conexiones. Concluimos que en tanto no dispongamos de estudios epidemiológicos debería tenerse en cuenta su posible relación. Entendemos también que una medida adecuada para evitar la aparición de problemas sociosanitarios en la consulta ortodóncica consiste en advertir a estos pacientes de la posibilidad de aparición o agravamiento de la sintomatología como factor no derivado del tratamiento ortodóncico en sí.

    The aim of this paper is to discuss the relationship among orthodontic treatment, temporomandibular disfunction and Crohn disease. After a review of the literature, we where not able to found any references. We present a clinical case, and we conclude that the diagnosis of a Crohn disease in a patient with an orthodontic treatment should warn to the clinician in order to foresee a possible appearance or precipitation of temporomandibular disfunction, and the patient should be warned in the same way.
