El presente escrito analiza las herramientas utilizadas por los religiosos de la orden agustina en los centros de estudio novohispanos. La investigación se limita al orden agustino y en especial al trabajo realizado por Alonso de la Veracruz, quien es parte fundamental en el inicio de la escolástica en América e implanta los cimientos de la primera universidad en el nuevo continente. Se analizan los pasos de Veracruz y las doctrinas por él impuestas en los primeros centros de estudio. El escrito toma como antecedente la base de las constituciones agustinas en la parte referente a la materia de educación.

This paper analyzes the tools used by the monks of the Augustinian order in the novohispanos study centers. The research is limited to the Augustinian order and specially to the work realized by the religious Alonso de la Veracruz, who is an essential part at the beginning of the scholastic in America and implements the foundation of the first university in the new continent. We discuss the steps of De la Veracruz and the doctrines imposed by him in the first study centers. This paper takes the basis of the Augustinian constitutions in the part that relates to education.
