    El presente estudio repasa la biografía intelectual y política y la obra crítica del filósofo ecuatoriano Bolivar Echeverría. El trabajo transita desde los años de formación de Bolivar y sus relaciones con la filosofía y en especial con el marxismo. Se detiene en la vinculación del filósofo con la realidad político y social en la que se inscribe su obra y pensamiento. Analiza las conceptualizaciones en torno a la modernidad, el mestizaje y el materialismo cultural que colocan al filósofo en el centro de la tradición del marximo y el pensamiento crítico del siglo XX.

    This study reviews the intellectual and political biography and critical work of the philosopher Ecuadorian Bolivar Echeverria. The work goes from the formative years of Bolivar and its relations with philosophy and especially Marxism. He stops in linking political philosopher and social reality in which he inscribes his work and thought. Analyzes conceptions about modernity, miscegenation cultural materialism that place the philosopher in the center of the tradition of Marxism and critical thinking of the twentieth century.
