Resumen de Dos visionarios en escena: Edward Gordon Craig y Adrià Gual

El director de escena y autor dramático catalán Adrià Gual y el también director inglés Edward Gordon Craig constituyen dos de los eslabones fundamentales para entender los diversos intentos de renovación teatral que, desde presupuestos estéticos simbolistas y con las premisas wagnerianas del teatro como arte total como pilares, se sucedieron en la Europa de finales del siglo XIX y principios del siglo XX. En este trabajo exploramos los puntos de conexión entre ambos creadores a partir del análisis de elementos tales como la iluminación, la arquitectura escénica y el concepto del actor.

The Catalan stage director and playwright Adrià Gual and the British director Edward Gordon Craig are two essential figures in understanding the different models for renovating the European theatre at the end of the nineteenth century and beginnings of the twentieth, with both taking on board symbolist aesthetics and the Wagnerian premise of theatre as a total art. In this article we will explore the points of connection between both creators based on an analysis of elements such as lighting, stage architecture, and the concept of the actor.
