Se analiza la relación entre ciencia ficción y neoliberalismo, mediante el estudio de la novela The Protos Mandate, de Nick Kanas. El concepto de novum explica algunos cambios presentes en la novela, en relación con la tradición ligada a la poética de la ciencia ficción de Darko Suvin y con la idea de la dialéctica entre el contexto de escritura/producción y el contexto diegético del texto (literario o fílmico), con el fin de comprender cuáles razones motivan el cambio dentro de la denominada actual ciencia ficción neoliberal.The relation between science fiction and neoliberalism is analyzed through the study of the novel The Protos Mandate, by Nick Kanas. The concept of novum explains certain changes present in the novel, in relation to the tradition linked to the poetics of science fiction developed by Darko Suvin and to the idea of the dialectics between the context of writing/production and the diegetic context of the literary (or film) text, to understand the reasons for the changes happened in the so-called current neoliberal science fiction.
