Resumen de Asimetrías faciales: diagnóstico y tratamiento

  Debido a los pobres resultados obtenidos en el tratamiento de las asimetrías faciales, con los métodos ortodóncicos tardíos habituales, decidimos realizar una revisión bibliográfica sobre el tema. Los conceptos más sobresalientes encontrados, se aplicaron a los pacientes con asimetría facial que acudieron al Hospital de San Rafael de Madrid. Contrastados los resultados, realizamos unos protocolos de diagnóstico y tratamiento de las asimetrías faciales (funcionales y estructurales),con o sin disfunción temporomandibular. Parece demostrarse lo positivo que resulta el enfoque diagnóstico y terapeútico precoz en este tipo de problemas.

  Due to the poor results obtained in the treatment of facial asymmetries, with the late orthodontic methods usually used, we decided to do a bibliographyc review about this subject. The most outstanding concepts founded, were applied to all the patients with facial asymmetry that came to the S. Rafael Hospital in Madrid. Once we contrasted the results obtained in our review, we elaborated a diagnosis and treatment protocol of facial asymmetries (functionals and structurals) with or without temporomandibular joint disfuntion. lt seems to be proved the effectiveness of an early diagnosis and treatment of this kind of problems.
