Disyunción palatina. Evaluación clínica y cefalométrica

    Se ha estudiado una muestra de quince pacientes afectos de micrognatismo transversal tratados con disyunción palatina.

    Se valora el manejo clínico del paciente, los cambios en anchura y longitud de las arcadas dentarias, y la variación cefalométrica de las bases óseas en sentido antero-posterior y vertical.

    Entre los resultados no se encuentra relación lineal estadística entre el incremento del perímetro del arco con el producido transversalmente. A nivel cefalométrico no se observa un adelantamiento significativo en el maxilar, y sí en cambio una postero-rotación maxilar y mandibular, así como un aumento de las dimensiones verticales.

    We studied fifteen patients with transverse micrognatism treated with palatal disjunction. The clinical management of the patients was evaluated including the cephalometric variation of the osseous bases, the anterior-posterior and vertical directions and the width and length of the dental arcade.

    Among the results we did not observe a statistical lineal relation between the increase in the arch perimeter and the one produced transversally. A statistically significant advance of the maxillaiy was not noted in the cephalometric measurements, but conversely we observed a maxillary and mandibular postrotation and also an increase in the vertical measurements.
