  • Resumen
    • This catalog describes 144 medieval manuscript fragments used as binding material in the printed book collection of the Harry Ransom Center at the University of Texas, Austin. It is the result of “The Medieval Fragments Project,” a crowdsourcing effort using Flickr to identify medieval manuscripts used as binding waste. It illustrates the ways in which the fragments have been utilized as binder’s waste and the use of image hosting websites and social networking platforms to crowdsource the identification of manuscript fragments. It presents a method for describing fragments in situ to facilitate the study of manuscript waste within the historical context of bookbinding.
