    A la luz de principios axiológicos enmarcados en la tradición que tiene su fuente en la doctrina socrática, el autor hace un meditado examen acerca del oficio del filósofo. Demuestra que la filosofía tiene un objeto humano inmediato que es el filósofo, sobre el cual ella vierte sus efectos transformadores. El filósofo busca el saber para hacerse a sí mismo bueno, y se impone como su deber compartir su saber con los demás hombres para hacerlos también buenos pero, además, felices. El filósofo no puede aislarse. Ha de participar en la vida ciudadana como educador de ella.

    In the light of the axiological principles of the tradition having its source in Socratic doctrine, the author reflects on the role of the philosopher. He demonstrates that philosophy has an immediate human object that is the philosopher upon whom its transforming effects flows. The philosopher seeks knowledge to become himself good, and imposes upon himself the duty of sharing his knowledge with the rest of mankind so that they become good also and, moreover, make them happy. The philosopher cannot isolete himself. He must participate in public life as an educator of the people.
