El requerimiento de la Reina Isabel II para el establecimiento de los Gimnasios Reales en Aranjuez, La Granja y Madrid, supuso un reconocimiento socio-profesional para el Conde de Villalobos, pero también un gran esfuerzo para responder, sin renunciar a su interpretación de la Gimnasia, a la empresa formativa del Príncipe de Asturias y de su hermana Isabel. El Conde de Villalobos asume la responsabilidad del proyecto como “gimnasta” asistido del “pedrótiba” porque la Gimnasia es el resultado del arte del ejercicio y de la ciencia que aporta las orientaciones necesarias para la ejecución. Bajo esa concepción diseña los gimnasios, determina los objetos materiales necesarios, su fabricación y costes para la “gimnasia de relación” pero no se olvida de las ciencias que dan razón del ejercicio, con la invención de máquinas y aparatos gimnásgrafos.
En esta entrega (4ª) de la serie de investigaciones publicadas en esta revista, se insertan las relaciones de los objetos de los gimnasios y los aparatos diseñados por el Conde, que ante la falta de interés de D. Alfonso XII, por los “gimnasmas”, tras la Restauración Monárquica, son distribuidos entre el Real Colegio de San Lorenzo de El Escorial y el Colegio de Infantería de Toledo. Algunos aparatos y objetos han sido localizados, pero es deseable que estos primeros hallazgos sirvan de estímulo a otros investigadores, para una más amplia localización y exposición.

The requirement of Queen Elizabeth II for the establishment of the Royal Gymnasiums in Aranjuez, La Granja and Madrid, was a socioprofessional recognition for the Count of Villalobos, but also a great effort to respond, without renouncing his interpretation of gymnastics, to the training of the Prince of Asturias and his sister Isabel. The Count of Villalobos assumes responsibility for the project as a "gymnast" assisted by the "pedrótiba" because gymnastics is the result of the art of exercise and science, that provides the necessary guidelines for execution. Under that conception, he designed the gymnasiums, determined the necessary material objects, their manufacture and costs for "gymnastics of relation", but he did not forget the sciences that gave reasons for the exercise, with the invention of machines and apparatus gymnasts. In this installment (4th) of the series of investigations published in this magazine, the relations of the objects of the gymnasiums and the apparatuses designed by the Count are inserted, that in the absence of interest of D. Alfonso XII by the "gymnastics ", after the Monarchical Restoration, are distributed between the Royal College of San Lorenzo de El Escorial and the College of Infantry of Toledo. Some devices and objects have been localized, but it is desirable that these early findings serve as a stimulus for other researchers, for wider location and exposure.
