  • Resumen
    • The topographical identification of the ancient cities of Cantabra based on the references transrnitted by the literary sources is a classical problem. For this reason some investigators have hied to find in the placenames the testimony of their primitive location.

This study analyses the erroneous methods which have been used in the use of this auxiliary source, using as an example the city of Concana, which has been placed in Cuenca de Campos, Concha, Congama and in Cuena. It attempts to indicate the adequate paths so as to avoid incorrectly formulated hypothesis wich lead to mistaken results.
