María Zambrano published her comments on the works in prose and poetry of Unamuno quite early. At first, her writings were still tarnished by the proximity of his life. However, two decades later, Zambrano discovered that Unamuno’s poetry was not only an outlet for his religious crisis but also his way of doing philosophizing and living his own «poetical religion». Zambrano helps us understand Unamuno’s poetry as the tool he used to put his mystical experience into words.
