Resumen de L'information literacy degli studenti della maturità denl progetto "Non solo tesine"

Laura Ballestra

  • The article reports the results of a questionnaire about information literacy of 19 years old Italian students partecipating to “Non solo tesine” project in 2015. “Non solo tesine” is a cooperation project, started in 2011, among Mario Rostoni Library (LIUC University), Italian public libraries and high schools to teach information literacy and enquiry research process to high school students as a volitional activity held in public libraries. 540 students from the 2.300 students partecipating to the 2015 edition (31 high schoools and 32 libraries involved) were asked about research process habits and information sources used for personal interest or for school assignments. The results show a poor relation of students with scholarly publications, with a very few number of books read during the five years of high school, even if students declare to be confident with research. It suggests to consider, that Italian university libraries, public libraries and school libraries cooperate to help students to understand the role and pleasure of reading non-fiction books (companions, handbooks...) to create new personal knowledge.
