El artículo incluye el estudio, análisis e interpretación de un novedoso material fotográfico de la base de datos del Museo Nacional del Prado sobre los linezos, realizados bajo la dirección de Antón Rafael Mengs y Francesco Sabatini, de los pintores Guillermo Anglois y José del Castillo destinados a la tapicería del dormitorio del rey Carlos III. Este material nos ha permitido desentrañar su historia y resolver muchos de los errores sobre una de las series más suntuosas y mejor ejecutadas de cuantas se realizaron en la Real Fábrica de Tapices de Santa Bárbara durante el siglo XVIII.
This essay presents the findings of the study, analysis and interpretation of new photographic material in the database of the Museo del Prado concerning the cartoons made by the painters Guillermo Anglois and José del Castillo for the tapestries of King Charles III's bedroom, a project accomplished under the direction of Anton Raphael Mengs and Francesco Sabatini. This information has enable us to unravel the story of, and to correct many of the misconceptions about one of the most sumptuous and most finely executed tapestry series in the Real Fábrica de Tápices de Santa Bárbara in the eighteenth century.
