El presente artículo pretende aproximarse a la relación entre la espiritualidad y la actividad de la Compañía de Jesús, orden religiosa que, nacida a mediados del siglo XVI, tiene la peculiaridad de elegir el mundo como escenario de su acción religiosa. Una orden cosmopolita, fuertemente jerarquizada, marcada por el Humanismo y, por lo mismo, asociada al reconocimiento del valor cultural del otro, cuyo éxito se vincula a esos rasgos originales que estudiándolos pueden ayudar a comprender mejor lo que ocurre en el presente, tanto en el interior de la misma orden como en la actual sociedad globalizada.

This article aims to approach the relationship between the spirituality and the activity of the Society of Jesus, a religious order that was born in the mid-sixteenth century and which, has the peculiarity of choosing the world as the setting for its religious activity. It is a cosmopolitan, highly hierarchical order, marked by humanism and, therefore, associated with the recognition of the cultural value of the other, whose success is linked to those original features that, when studying them can help one better understand what is happening, both inside the order as in the contemporary globalized society.
