    La bioética como nuevo ámbito de estudio interdisciplinar ha alcanzado una fase de producción científica impresionante. Las voces que sustancian su reflexión, sin embargo, si bien unidas por una general preocupación ética, no siempre se articulan en una metodología clara y definida. En particular, parece que las preocupaciones normativas, como se pueden encontrar en algunas de las teorías éticas más difundidas, terminan por poner la cuestión moral del signo de una general “censura del sentido”. Sin una dirección antropológica precisa, sin embargo, es difícil dar razón también de la plausibilidad propiamente lógica del discurso moral. Frente a este empasse metodológico, el artículo se interroga acerca del futuro de la bioética. Esto no tanto en relación con la materialidad de las cuestiones que definirán su contenido, sino desde un punto de vista metodológico-formal: ¿qué cosa debe ser la bioética, o mejor la reflexión moral en bioética, para ser fiel a su propio pasado, al intento que la ha generado, como también a los desafíos nuevos que le esperan?

    Beyond the censure of the meaning: reflections on the future of bioethics. As a new realm of interdisciplinary study, bioethics has unquestionably reached a phase of scholarly maturity, at least from the point of view of its productivity. On the other hand, although defined by a common ethical concern, the voices that substantiate the field of bioethics hardly share in a clear and defined ethical methodology. In particular, the emphasis on the normative dimensions of ethical discourse, visible in the most prominent bioethical theories, rests upon a lack of concern for deeper anthropological questions, thus ending in a practical suspension, when not censuring, of the question of meaning. Without a clear anthropological grounding, however, it becomes difficult to justify the logical plausibility of moral discourse as well. In light of such methodological difficulty, the article poses the question of the future of bioethics. Rather tan focusing on the issues that will most likely define the future of the field, it addresses the methodological problema: what should bioethics –or more specifically ethical reflection in bioethics- be, in order to be faithful to its own origins, to the intention that generated the field in the first place, and to be able to respond to the challenges awaiting it in the future?
