La identitat catalana en el món digital. El cas de la comunitat d'Ubuntu en català

    Aquest article explora la relació entre la llengua catalana i les ideologies i identitats en el si de la societat xarxa. Per ideologia s'entén la representació de les relacions socials i lingüístiques juntament amb els interessos que les acompanyen; per identitat, un procés relacional que defineix què sóc en relació amb els altres. La sociolingüística vincula estretament aquests conceptes amb la llengua. En un entramat social en què la presència d'Internet és cada cop més aclaparadora i multifocal, es vol esbrinar si aquest lligam roman intacte o es transforma. L'anàlisi es realitza a partir de l'estudi de la comunitat catalanoparlant d'Ubuntu, que resulta rellevant per la seva magnitud i pel substrat ideològic que la impregna. Mitjançant entrevistes s'han extret dades relatives a la manera com els participants es comuniquen i interactuen, així com les seves opinions i motivacions, informació que s'ha processat qualitativament. L'objectiu és demostrar que el vincle entre la llengua i els conceptes d'ideologia i identitat es construeix de manera diferent en l'espai físic i en el digital perquè ambdós responen a condicions de comunicació i participació diferents. No sols acceptar aquesta diferenciació, sinó també comprendre-la, és, al cap i a la fi, el repte que la societat xarxa, en la qual ens trobem plenament inserits, ens planteja diàriament.

    This paper explores the relationship between the Catalan language and ideologies and identities in the network society. Ideology is understood as a representation of social and linguistic relations along with the interests that accompany them. We understand identity as a relational process that defines what one is in relation to others. Sociolinguistics closely link these concepts with language. In a social context in which the presence of the Internet is increasingly important and multifocal, we aim to establish whether this bond remains intact or is transformed. The analysis is based on the study of the Catalan-speaking Ubuntu community, which is remarkable for its size and the ideological substratum that pervades it. Through interview data, we explore how the participants interact and communicate as well as their opinions and motivations, and this information has been qualitatively processed. The aim is to demonstratethat the link between language and the concepts of ideology and identity is constructed differently in the physical and the digital spaces because they both respond to different conditions of communication and participation. Not only accepting this distinction but also understanding it is, after all, the challenge that the network society, a society in which we are fully posi- tioned, poses us daily.
