Resumen de Memoria soterrada: los refugios antiaéreos de la Guerra Civil en Jaén

La guerra civil española aportó como novedad en la historia militar el bombardeo masivo sobre poblaciones civiles. Este trabajo recoge el esfuerzo constructor realizado en la provincia de Jaén para protegerse de las acciones militares de los sublevados, que implicó un cambio radical en las ciudades de la retaguardia republicana, que vieron como sus principales calles y plazas eran levantadas gracias a un esfuerzo colectivo -económico y laboral- que permitió construir numerosos refugios. Asimismo, este trabajo apuesta por el estudio, recuperación y apertura a la ciudadanía de estos espacios que guardan parte de nuestra memoria más traumática, que aún se encuentra soterrada, porque entendemos que este patrimonio tiene unas enormes posibilidades didácticas para conocer la guerra civil, y para formar una ciudadanía comprometida con los valores democráticos y la resolución pacífica de los conflictos.

The Spanish Civil War provided as a novelty in military history the massive bombing of civilian populations. This paper covers the constructive efforts made in the province of Jaen in order to protect the population from the military actions of the rebels, that involved a radical change in the cities of the Republican rearguard, who saw how their main streets and squares were tore apart thanks to a collective effort (both economic and related to the workforce), that made possible the building of numerous shelters. Besides, this paper is committed to the study, recovery and openness to the citizens of these spaces that keep some of our most traumatic – but still buried - memories, because we are able to understand the huge didactic possibilities of this heritage to achieve a deeper knowledge of the Spanish Civil War, and also to educate citizenry committed to democratic values and the peaceful resolution of conflicts.
