Resumen de La transformación de la persona: fantasía o imaginación

  Varios pensadores de diferentes corrientes filosóficas han señalado que el transhumanismo es una de las más peligrosas ideologías contemporáneas. Después de analizar por qué tiene que pasar un filósofo una advertencia con respecto a esta forma de pensar y vivir ofrezco algunos aspectos críticos contra esta interpretación de la transformación humana —la principal promesa del transhumanismo—. Identifico las raíces filosóficas del transhumanismo sobre todo en autores como Nietzsche, Descartes, Freud y Marx. Dicha tradición filosófica invocada por el transhumanismo propone una cierta interpretación de la facultad imaginativa. Es ahí donde reside fundamentalmente dicha transformación en cíborg cuyas absurdas consecuencias explico en el ámbito existencial, científico y socio-político. Argumento que el acto imaginativo para convertirse en cíborg es opuesto moral, epistemológico y espiritualmente al acto de la auténtica imaginación. Ofrezco una crítica de dicha fantasía y argumento que el transhumanismo se vence a través de una conversión total de la imaginación.

  Several thinkers of different philosophical traditions claimed that transhumanism is one of the most dangerous contemporary ideologies. After an analysis of why a philosopher has to warn against this form of thinking and living I offer some critical aspects against this interpretation of human transformation –the main promise of transhumanism. Authors like Nietzsche, Descartes, Freud and Marx can be identified as probably the main philosophical sources of transhumanist thinking. This philosophical heritage of transhumanism proposes a certain interpretation of how the imagination is supposed to work. It is primarily this faculty that is responsible for the transformation into a cyborg. I make explicit some absurd consequences of such move in the field of personal existence, science and socio-politics. I argue that the imaginative act that lies at the basis of transformation into cyborg is morally, epistemologically and spiritually opposed to the authentic act of imagination. I offer a substantial critique of what I call fantasy and propose an effective way of combating transhumanism through the conversion of the imaginative faculty.
