    Este trabajo analiza la reconfiguración de la idea de nación, la emergencia de subjetividades y las relaciones entre ellas que Pedro Antonio Valdez, escri- tor dominicano, lleva a cabo en su pri- mera novela, Bachata del ángel caído, en el contexto de las medidas sociales y económicas introducidas por Joaquín Balaguer en la República Dominicana al final del siglo XX. Mi tesis central es que este autor intenta “presentar” a esas subjetividades a través de la inclusión de fragmentos de bachatas y boleros que ilustran esas reconfiguraciones de la nación dominicana y a través de la parodia del intelectual tipo boom y de la representación que este hizo de las cla- ses subalternas. Palabras clave: Bachata, Representación, Subjetivida- des, Parodia, Intelectuales.

    This paper analyzes the reconfiguration of the notion of nation, the emergence of new subjectivities and the relationships among them that Pedro Antonio Valdez, a Dominican writer, does in his first nov- el, Bachata del ángel caído, within the context of socio-economic reforms car- ried out by Joaquin Balaguer in the Do- minican Republic at the end of the 20th Century. I claim that this writer intends to “present” those subjectivities by insert- ing pieces of bachatas and boleros that help to illustrate those reconfigurations and by mocking the intellectual of the Boom and the representation this one made of subaltern subjects. Keywords: Bachata music, Representation, Subjec- tivities, Parody, Intellectuals.
