    La formación del psicólogo en los tiempos actuales es sumamente importante para contribuir a la salud mental y bienestar familiar de las personas, por lo tanto debe estar preparado con un perfil amplio que le permita indagar sobre las causas y efectos de las diferentes problemáticas en salud mental, de tal manera que sea capaz de elaborar proyectos y programas para la promoción, prevención, orientación, tratamiento, rehabilitación e inserción familiar y social  de la población. El objetivo de la presente investigación es valorar la importancia del desarrollo de las habilidades investigativas en la formación del psicólogo, para garantizar un desempeño profesional de calidad, que responda con el nuevo encargo social que el Ecuador plantea a los egresados de esta carrera. Se debe afirmar, que el componente investigativo del psicólogo hay que desarrollarlo mediante las habilidades investigativas en el aula, desde las diferentes asignaturas, para fortalecer la formación profesional del psicólogo.

    The training of psychologists in modern times is extremely important to contribute to the mental health and family welfare of people, so they must be prepared with a wide profile that allows him to investigate the causes and effects of different mental health problems, so to be able to develop projects and programs for the promotion, prevention, counseling, treatment, rehabilitation, as well as the family and social integration of the population. The objective of this research is to assess the importance of the developing research skills in the training of psychologists, to ensure a professional performance with quality and that it responds to the new social order that Ecuador poses to graduates of this career. It must be stated that the research component of the psychologist must be developed by the research skills in the classroom from different subjects to strengthen professional training of psychologists.
