Current trends in photograph conservation.
This article will discuss in brief the current trends in photograph conservation and preservation from the perspective of both institutional and private practice settings. Among the topics raised are the demise of analog photographic materials and the concurrent effects this has on the perception of artistic photographs and their conservation and preservation. Also discusses are issues of replication, uniqueness, and the differing values placed upon vintage originals and reprints. The responses by photograph conservators to these new developments while maintaining the precepts of our field are considered. This article follows up the authors' essay on the same topic published more than thirty years ago.
