Resumen de El problema de la normatividad en El Príncipe de Nicolás Maquiavelo

Este artículo pretende abordar la cuestión de la normatividad en la filosofía política de Maquiavelo. Según la interpretación más tradicional de El Príncipe, las subordinaciones de las decisiones políticas al plano de lo fáctico tornan al autor un fiel representante del paradigma realista. En esta línea se ubica Jürgen Habermas, quién afirma que con Maquiavelo se instaura un nuevo modelo de pensamiento político apegado a los hechos. Sin embargo, el filósofo uruguayo Mario Sambarino, sostiene que la referencia maquiaveliana a las virtudes del príncipe lo acercan a ciertos ideales de normatividad práctica. Por lo tanto, el objetivo de este trabajo abordará la tensión entre el plano de lo normativo y el fáctico en la obra cumbre del filósofo florentino.

This article aims to address the issue of normativity in the political philosophy of Machiavelli. According to the most traditional interpretation of The Prince, the subordination of political decisions to the plane of the factual perspective makes the author a faithful representative of the realist paradigm. In this line, Jürgen Habermas claims that Machiavelli sets a new model of political thought attached to the facts. However, the Uruguayan philosopher Mario Sambarino argues that the Machiavellian reference to the prince’s virtues brings him together with certain ideals of practical normativity. Therefore, the aim of this work will address the tension between the level of the normative and the factual perspectives in the masterpiece of the Florentine philosopher.
